Some Midnighters have cool powers but during that secret hour there are monsters that are try to kill Jessica because she has a very special power and those creatures fear that she can kill them so before that happen the creature want to kill her. And yes there's a romance.
3.The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Micheal Scott

Two twin name Josh & Sophie Newman are like a prophecy " two twin that are one will come together to save or distroy the world" yes there's magic involved and reawakening powers and immortality and so thing in history like basically people from history.Sounds kinda cool I will leave it like that because I don't want to spoil the books.
